Our second grade teachers had a different kind of contest this year. We had pie pans filled with whip cream and inside was a piece of bubble gum. The goal was to be the first to find the gum and blow a bubble. I am proud to say I won! :) I know there are pictures of me out there somewhere and I'll post them when I get them! :)

Insect Day

Remax brought their hot air balloon out to school today and we got to see it being blown up and then we walked around it while the blew the hot air inside. They also gave us each a Remax beach ball. Here are a few of my silly children!

Yipeee, summer is almost here.

This was our Insect day game. It was called the Food Chain Game. We had grasshoppers, sparrows and hawks. The grasshoppers could only eat the popcorn on the ground, the sparrows could only eat the grasshoppers and the hawks could only eat the sparrows. They would run around chasing each other. At one point our food chain stopped because all we had left were grasshoppers and hawks, all the sparrows had been eaten.

This is the funniest video. We let our grasshoppers start eating, then we let our sparrows go and you should see the grasshoppers run! Too funny!

Pirate day and Space day

Well our first two days of camp were a HUGE success if I do say so myself. I think my kids are loving camp and so am I. This is one of the few opportunities we get to "let loose" so some extent. Today we did my most favorite activity. Each lodge dressed one of their team members as an alien. I give them the supplies and let them go. You really see their creative sides come out. I want to take this time to thank ALL of my parents. You all have been so great this year and I could not have done it without you. Here are some pictures from our first two days of camp. Career Week

This week is Career Week in second grade. We have had so many great speakers so far. I want to thank everyone who has come and shared their experiences with us. We have had great classroom discussions about jobs, college, scholarships, etc. One of our speakers is a nurse and he brought in a few gifts for us.

Habitats

We just finished up a two week unit on habitats. We studied water and land habitats that includes, oceans, ponds, forests, the Arctic, rain forests and deserts. They created projects to show their ocean and pond habitat information. They did a great job with their facts and including the animals in their pictures. Check them out!
