Well I hate to say this but I can't get the video to upload, it is too large of a file. I am so sorry but I tried two or three times and it says it will only take 100 MB and the video is 422 MB. Welcome Back!

Welcome back from our little 'break'. I was able to listen to all of the kids' stories about their experiences this past week. I'm glad to hear no one was hurt although I did hear about some damaged houses, sorry about that. I also heard that some are still without power, as am I. Hopefully we will get it back soon. We will have no homework this week except to have the kids prepared to take their spelling test on Friday. I did not assign any challenge words so that they can focus on the 20 regular words. Don't worry about sending anything in for spelling homework this week. We will go back to regular homework schedule next week when things are hopefully back to normal. Please let me know if any of you need anything or if there is anything I can do. Stay safe and try to stay cool.

Grandparents Are Special!

Happy Grandparent's Day!

We celebrated Grandparent's Day on Friday September 5, 2008. We had over 20 grandparents show up to celebrate! First, each student interviewed their grandparent. Some of the questions were "What was your favorite grade-school memory?" or "What inventions have changed the way you live?". The students had fun finding out new facts about their grandparents. After the interviewing was finished I went around the room and asked if any grandparents wanted to share anything. Some told stories, many brought pictures and some even brought dolls! Then we performed our song for the grandparents. Last, the students served their grandparents cookies and juice. I think everyone had a great time! Thanks to all of the grandparents who came. I hope your enjoyed your time at Kaufman! Be sure to check out the pictures and video!

First Day of School!

Wow! What a great looking class! We had a great first day and I look forward to many more great days!

New School Year!

I can't believe summer is almost over. I am very excited to meet you. I put some pictures up of some things you will get to do in second grade. We have a lot of fun with all of our activities, such as Scarecrow Day and Drug Free Week. Don't forget to come to Meet the Teacher night on Aug. 21 from 5:30-7pm. You will get to meet your classmates and me! You can go ahead and bring your school supplies too so you will be ready to go for the first day of school. I look forward to seeing you all soon!!
