This week is Education: Go Get It week. Each day is a different theme and the teachers are dressing the part. Monday was career day and the teachers dressed up as different careers. I dressed up as an architect. We discussed different careers and how some of the different subjects they are learning now can help them in their careers later on in life. Today, Tuesday, we wore our college shirts and we talked about college. I talked to the students about my alma mater, Sam Houston State University and I showed them the website. We talked about going off to college and living on your own and all the responsibilities that come with that. Tomorrow, Wednesday, we will be discussing trades, the military and other options besides college. Thursday we will talk about the transistions between grade school, middle school, junior high and high school. On Friday we will talk about how to pay for college and all the different options such as loans, grants, and even scholarships. We are encouraging our students to think about school past high school and continuing their education. At home you can use this week to discuss college and careers as well. I am posting a few pictures from the last couple of days.

Mrs. Sheltraw, Miss. Overbeck and Mrs. Shaw. Mrs. Sheltraw was a pilot and Miss. Overbeck and Mrs. Shaw were doctors.
Mrs. Sudduth, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Cordaway. Mrs. Sudduth was a doctor, Mrs. Evans was a chef and Mrs. Cordaway was a veterinarian.

Myself, Mrs. Trout and Mrs. Evans all went to Sam Houston State University. So did Mrs. Shaw but she chose to wear an Aggie shirt. Eat'em Up Kats!!!
